Thank you breastfeeding classes!!! The very first skin to skin earlier with mom, breastfeeding was unsuccessful because Kaian was so tired. At 9:15pm we tried again and within a couple of minutes mom and coach got little man to latch. He fed for about 3-4 minutes and went back to sleep!
That's great! Melissa, it gets easier with each feeeding. The nurses are so helpful with getting the right positioning for a proper latch. And it does get less painful too, especially as your milk comes in. It took me awhile to figure out that a good latch may look like the kids couldn't breathe, but the nurses assured me they were just fine! Praying for you as you and Kaian learn this fine art, you're going to do great! :) Hope you and Cory are getting some rest here and there.....and of course, we'd love to see some photos when you get time! :)

ReplyDeleteThe first few days are the hardest nursing. Some babies just wana be home and in the comfort of the place that makes you the most comfortable. I know thats how serigne was, but once he latched on it was on!! Keep trying and make sure you keep your nipples lubed up or they will crack, bleed, burn and make you wana give up!! You gota go thru the pain to get to paradise!! But its so worth it. Ive nursed all mine, and every baby is different, some get it straight out the gate, so like Adisa take a minute, but we good now!! Good luck. smiles!!! RoZ
